Lich King ... DOWN!
Thursday 27 May 2010 - 20:16:44
DEFEATED after weeks of frustration, the Lich King proved to be a formidable foe. No longer does Dreadnought have to wonder, when will the Lich King die. Now we have only to wonder, how long til the next lock out?

Great job to those that have put in hours of labor and insight into the fight that culminated in tonight's victory. Now that the Lich King is dead, we can move onto the next challenge, Hardmodes.

Be here next week when we HAVE to start ICC all over again because someone decided to take a dirtnap.

Of the Nightfall ……
Monday 13 April 2009 - 12:14:21

It’s been a while since we updated but we’ve been pretty busy this Spring nonetheless. First off, we’ve re-united with some old friends, and some new ones too, and moved over to Skullcrusher. Besides the more manly name, it’s a more active server and gave us the opportunity to fill out our ranks with quality players. So good news is … NO MORE PUGS!

Besides farming Naxx, and demonstrating our vehicle-related retardation on Malygos, the new crew has been cutting its teeth on everyone’s favorite, Sartharion 25 + drakes. We’ve spent a few nights banging our heads against the lava soaked ground but progress has been made (we swear!). We've also had a some folks working on the 10 man version.

As you can see from the screenshots above a 10 man group finally knocked off Sarth + 3 drakes last night, earning the title "Of the Nightfall". Grats on your protodrakes as well!

Stay tuned …… 10

Dreadnought starts off the new year with a bang!
Sunday 04 January 2009 - 11:56:29
Well, it's been a long time since I've posted, but that doesn't mean a lot isn't happening in Dreadnought. After leveling up since the release of the expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, Dreadnought began the new year with its first full clear of Naxxramas. That's right bitches, the old lich Kel'Thuzad took a dirt nap at the hands of Dreadnought! Here's the $$$ shot:

Apparently, KT was giving us some problems (I haven't been to Naxx yet, more on that later) and, feeling that it was Belgarrin's mojo holding us back, Ninil spoke with Belgarrin's wife to give us a helping hand. So, she managed to have Belgarrin shine her shoes one night so that Dreadnought could spend the night in Naxx without Belg's negative mojo. The screenshot speaks for itself

In all seriousness though, I think this was our second time facing KT and Dreadnought made short work of him as always. Here are some more shots of Dreadnought and various kill shots:

Patchwerk:

Sapphiron:

The burly crew who did the first full Dreadnought clear:

So, as everyone can see, though the updates have been few and far between, that doesn't mean that we don't have a very strong presence on Thunderlord. Indeed, we're still looking for old friends, so if you're at all interested in playing with us, we're more than happy to have you. A few old-timers have rejoined us again, I'd like to welcome Kogarne, Frump, and Hynote back to the guild. We're really looking forward to these guys joining us! If I may say so, this incarnation of Dreadnought has been a real success. We have a very good crew of gamers and have been raiding very regularly for the last year. It's been a blast!

Now, that said, most of the people in the guild know this, but if you haven't been here in awhile, I've been on hiatus since the birth of my daughter last September. So, none of this is from my perspective and I apologize for not being able to more personalize the news updates, but I have a lot going on at the moment. So, I've been slowly leveling up to 80 ... the key word is slowly. And, since Blizzard have allowed PvE to PvP transfers, I've brought my Priest over and am back to playing Drue again.

THAT'S RIGHT! DRUE'S BACK!

So, since I haven't been able to raid, the guys took pity on me and let me have some of the PH4T L3WTZ!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! SWEET!

Peace! And Happy New Year!

Dreadnought Post Patch
Sunday 02 November 2008 - 11:21:36
The latest patch has been released in anticipation of the next expansion to World of Warcraft. Noteables include overall nerfs to current lvl 70 raid zones bosses, scores of new talents, and the OMG NERF RETADINS.

What does this mean for Dreadnought? Kara runs are now under two hours at a nice leisurely pace and ZA is under one hour even with multiple oops. New talents have pushed druid tanks to the level of MC Hammer, Can't touch this! Our mostly geared hunter Belkran was thumping 1500 avg dps during our 16 man Gruuls run last week. That's right, 16 people and both boss fights were about 3 1/2 minutes long. Yet we do not have a lvl 70 retadin earning the hate of others in PVP.

Until the expansion comes out Dreadnought is looking to expand it's raid portfolio into 25 mans. We like having skilled and knowledgeable players joining us when we decide to randomly tackle this or that. Once the expansion comes out and we are settled at 80 the focus will be brought back to 5 and 10 man instances.

Dreadnought
Monday 20 October 2008 - 15:39:51
That's right folks, Dreadnought has come a long way in only a few months. We are dedicated to our weekly raids of Kara and ZA. Both zones are on farm status and gear is plentiful. With the addition of a few key players recently we've been able to continue our push through ZA with less assistance from PUG people. However some of you PUG'ers just plan out suck. If I put myself into LFG for something I make sure that I have at least a Freaking CLUE as to what will happen. Main tanks with 600 tps need not apply for ZA, it only gets us killed.

Shade of Aran, vanquished by Dreadnought!
Thursday 22 May 2008 - 17:02:38
I think it's safe to say that everyone is having a lot of fun in Karazhan. I certainly know I am. And I know the updates are coming fast and furious, but we are moving at a really good pace and having some fun and hoping that more of our old friends will see we're for real and come join us!

So we left our last instance with The Curator down (Tuesday night). It's been a goal of ours to get through Aran and The Prince this week. So last night with only eight people to start with, we decided to get some learning experience on Shade of Aran (is that supposed to be a play on "Shah of Iran?", hmmmmm). We knew if we didn't kill him (and with only eight, there was a good chance of failing, even with this crack crew), we'd have to reclear on our next attempts at him. We decided it was worth it anyway.

After 3 wipes learning flame wreath (someone wise once told me Raiding is full of challenge. Sometimes there is fire. You have to not be in the fire., amen old friend, amen), avoiding the blizzard, getting to the wall on the arcane explosion ... well, ok, we learned this after the first wipe. The next two wipes were for learning that we aren't dpsing hard enough (hey, give us a break, we were only eight people attempting this for our first time really ). On our fourth attempt, the cavalry comes in the form of Belkram and Belgarrin. Well, Belgarrin had some trouble getting on. He blamed wow crashing, but we all know there was a fight with his fiancee, don't we Belg?

BTW, Lhelith has something to say about that:

Don't shoot the messenger! I was told to do it!

Anyway, with Belg and Belk, we had a full raid of ten. And you know what happens when Dreadnought has a full raid, right? That's right, SHIT DIES! and the inevitable happened again:

So, stay tuned, we just have the Chess Event and then it's onto Prince Malchezaar! You know there's another update coming soon, right?

Dreadnought continues its onslaught through Karazhan!
Wednesday 21 May 2008 - 00:04:08
We are making great progress through Karazhan. Already we're getting good upgrades and having a lot of fun! We've had a bit of trouble fielding full raids with ten people, but that hasn't stopped us so far! For instance, last week, we tromped through up to The Curator with only nine people. We had a bit of dps trouble, so we called in our Ace in the pocket, Krankie the hunter and downed The Curator with ease. We also had the Big Bad Wolf event for the first time and it proved to be rather easy:

(You can see his foot in the right part of the image)

So tonight we start a fresh instance. Again, we're not able to field a full ten, but we figure we'd do our best with what we had. We started with nine, made our way to Maiden of Virtue, but lo and behold, we lose Xadrian due to an internet outage. There goes a big chunk of our dps! But does that stop us? Hell no! We down Maiden with eight! Figuring someone will log on soon, we continue on to the Opera. So what's the only event we haven't had yet? That's right, Romulo and Julianne. But these star crossed lovers should have thought better than to cross our path:

We finished the R&J event OUR FIRST TIME ATTEMPTING IT!

At this point, I was worried. Could eight people take The Curator? We made some calls, but it was to no avail, we just weren't destined to have a full raid tonight. So we continued clearing to The Curator. We get to The Curator and still we only have eight people. We call again, pleading for people to log in, but our calls go unanswered. We figure, well, we're here, let's take a shot. We do ok, but in the end, we couldn't do it on our first try. So we continue calling, we move some people around strategize about how we can maximize our dps and take one more shot with eight people:

BAM! That's the burly crew that did it! It was a lot of fun, probably our biggest challenge in Karazhan to date and we were completely up to it! Great job guys! This was our first run with only two healers as well, so hats off to Ninil and Hufntuf on a great job healing!

Dreadnought downs The Curator on our first ever Karazhan raid!
Sunday 11 May 2008 - 13:41:15
Our first night running Karazhan was a smashing success! We were a group of people who had raided before, but haven't raided together since Everquest. The old instincts kicked right in though as we made it past The Curator on our first night! Not only that but:

Attumen the Huntsman ...

Dead, first shot!

Moroes ...

That's right, we rang! FIRST SHOT!

[Ok, I messed up and missed a SS of the Maiden of Virtue, but, trust me, we gave her 2 dolla and she went down like a cheap whore ... yes, the first time]

Wait, what's this?

That's right, it's an EMPTY STAGE. Ok, here's the story, I'd done the Big Bad Wolf and Romulo and Julianne events, but never the Wizard of Oz event. We sort of felt like if we got either R&J or BBW, that things would be ok, we didn't really have fire to stun strawman and we didn't have anything but a priest fear to control Roar, so we figured we'd get either R&J or BBW and if we happened to get Wizard of Oz, we'd do our best, probably wipe, and then talk about how to complete the event. Well, we got the Wizard of Oz, adapted on the fly and beat it our first time ever attempting it! Veni, vidi, vici, baby!

Feeling pretty good and confident, we moved on to The Curator. Surely this first real gear-check would give us a challenge.

But alas, it was not to be. Again, our first shot on The Curator and he's dead!

At this point, I'd never really run anything past The Curator in one run start to finish. I'd done most of the other bosses, but only once or so and didn't really have any good experience with the strategies. I was in uncharted waters. Luckily, Bixxby had experience and guided us on to the Shade of Aran. Unfortunately, Aran would not fall to Dreadnought this night, but we'll be back. Lack of rep with Violet Eye meant having to head to town to repair and the gankers outside of Karazhan had other ideas about letting us repair and summon back, so we called it a night.

For a group of people who have decided to come back to the game and just play casually with friends, I think we've done a great job and, frankly, we exceeded my expectations of how far we'd get on our first night. I shouldn't have been surprised, I've known these guys to be a group that has always done more with less. That trait really shined through tonight!

Dreadnought enters Karazhan!
Wednesday 07 May 2008 - 12:43:04
This Saturday, Dreadnought begins its forays into Medivh's dwelling, also known as Karazhan!

Ok, so I know that Karazhan is ancient content. But we're all very excited because for some of us, it's a return to a fun dungeon, but with people we want to be playing with. For some, this will be their first time there. And for others (me included), a big, old haunted house just sounds like a hell of a lot of fun! We're all really looking forward to raiding again and we've all been working hard to get leveled and geared up for this.

Anyway, I had a look around to scope out what might be going down:

That's right Midnight, we have you and your master, Attumen, square in our sights! The good news is we have plenty of people to host Karazhan raids now. So hopefully we can gear up a bit and move on to Zul'Aman before too long as well. If you're an old friend and looking for something to do, it wouldn't take long to catch up to us! And we're all more than willing to help out!

Look for an update on our progress real soon! Until next time, this is Minix

/salute

Update!
Sunday 17 February 2008 - 13:47:09
We haven't had any content updates yet, and people have been so busy leveling up, that I decided to make an update ... about me! Check this out:

Look a little bit closer:

That's what I've been up to lately. This isn't a post to brag about my 1337 skillz, it's just another post by a druid doing what druids do. I have to admit, it is a bit fun being an overpowered class and taking full advantage of it This was one of the reasons I created the druid, being able to run flags in WSG. Now, some action shots!

Here I am coming out of the base in my favorite form:

And here I am capping for the WIN!

If you're on the fence about joining us, don't hesitate. We have a solid core playing, there's never a lonely night. So come join us NOW!

Until next time!
