Our first night running Karazhan was a smashing success! We were a group of people who had raided before, but haven't raided together since Everquest. The old instincts kicked right in though as we made it past The Curator on our first night! Not only that but:
Attumen the Huntsman ...

Dead, first shot!
Moroes ...
That's right, we rang! FIRST SHOT!
[Ok, I messed up and missed a SS of the Maiden of Virtue, but, trust me, we gave her 2 dolla and she went down like a cheap whore ... yes, the first time]
Wait, what's this?
That's right, it's an EMPTY STAGE. Ok, here's the story, I'd done the Big Bad Wolf and Romulo and Julianne events, but never the Wizard of Oz event. We sort of felt like if we got either R&J or BBW, that things would be ok, we didn't really have fire to stun strawman and we didn't have anything but a priest fear to control Roar, so we figured we'd get either R&J or BBW and if we happened to get Wizard of Oz, we'd do our best, probably wipe, and then talk about how to complete the event. Well, we got the Wizard of Oz, adapted on the fly and beat it our first time ever attempting it! Veni, vidi, vici, baby!
Feeling pretty good and confident, we moved on to The Curator. Surely this first real gear-check would give us a challenge.
But alas, it was not to be. Again, our first shot on The Curator and he's dead!
At this point, I'd never really run anything past The Curator in one run start to finish. I'd done most of the other bosses, but only once or so and didn't really have any good experience with the strategies. I was in uncharted waters. Luckily, Bixxby had experience and guided us on to the Shade of Aran. Unfortunately, Aran would not fall to Dreadnought this night, but we'll be back. Lack of rep with Violet Eye meant having to head to town to repair and the gankers outside of Karazhan had other ideas about letting us repair and summon back, so we called it a night.
For a group of people who have decided to come back to the game and just play casually with friends, I think we've done a great job and, frankly, we exceeded my expectations of how far we'd get on our first night. I shouldn't have been surprised, I've known these guys to be a group that has always done more with less. That trait really shined through tonight!
